Health Technology Career Area
Overview
This course will prepare students for the American Red Cross Certified Nursing Assistant Exam and the National Healthcareer Association National Certification Exam for EKG Technicians. The students will also be trained as Home Health Aides. Training includes direct patient care both physical and emotional, transferring, documentation, anatomy, physiology, nutrition, medical terminology, EKG’s and home assessments. This course will be used as a base of knowledge for other medical careers.
Freshman students will learn the shop safety precautions; infection control measures and correct body mechanics. The many different health care environments will be discussed. The students will participate in their first clinical placement, focusing on bed making, transportation, communication and employability skills. The students will be introduced to medical terminology.
